Other Information

Craniosacral Therapy, like acupuncture, is an energetic medicine. It is based on the theory that there are many subtle pathways in the body through which eneregy is constantly moving, and when these pathways are blocked or hindered, movement is disrupted and illness occurs. These movements can occur on an energetic level as well as a physical level, and you may not always be aware that they exist. A physiological example of this is your circulatory system. You don't normally feel your heart beating or feel blood flowing through your body, but it is happening 24 hours a day. Craniosacral Therapy makes use of these subtle energetic movements by employing a very gentle, non-force technique involving the bones of the head, spine, and pelvis to relieve tension directly from the nervous system. Since the nervous system controls everything from your muscles, digestion, circulation and even your mood, Craniosacral Therapy allows the body to achieve a relaxed state that initiates the powerful self-healing process. Various gentle manipulations and holds are used to tune into the necessary subtle energetic movements of your body, release any blockages in those movements, and reinstate balanced movement of the energy so that natural healing can take place. The nature of this hands-on method makes this therapy very relaxing. Many people actually fall asleep during a treatment.

The Craniosacral System consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth, which make up the cranium, down to the sacrum, or tail bone area. Since this vital system influences the development and performance of the brain and spinal cord, an imbalance or restriction could potentially cause any number of sensory, motor and neurological problems.

Craniosacral Therapy offers a means to treat a wide range of conditions in a similar manner as acupuncture, but without using needles. Craniosacral Therapy alone or used in combination with acupuncture is a very effective way to treat many different conditions.
